Shelter for girls in Sierra Leone

TERRE DES FEMMES partner organization "Amazonian Initiative Movement" (AIM) has inaugurated in March a shelter for girls at risk of circumcision in Sierra Leone.

In the newly constructed shelter will find 15 girls protection. They will not only secure accommodation, they are looked after by a social worker and have the opportunity to be taught acadamic and professionally.

In addition, there was a ceremony held for former circumcisers. Around 20 women have said publicly that they will no longer circumcise girls.
